Skrillex was forced to pause his set at Primavera Sound 2023 on Friday night (June 2) after a fire broke out onstage. Representatives from the festival confirmed that there was a small fire in one of the lights on the stage and that no injuries were reported. A festival employee announced over the public address system that the problem was a “technical error,” and Skrillex resumed his set after 10 minutes or so.

In video from the incident that attendees posted on social media, the small fire appeared to happen on the elevated truss of a lighting rig. The apparatus was lowered to a point where the crew could dispatch the flames with a handheld fire extinguisher.

This year, Skrillex released two new albums in the same weekend: Don’t Get Too Close and Quest for Fire. He also collaborated with Fred Again.. and Four Tet on the new song “Baby Again..,” which came after their collaborative Madison Square Garden concert but before their Frank Ocean-replacing Coachella 2023 set.
