John Baizley of Baroness joins Kyle Meredith to talk about his influences, tastes, and the band’s new album, Stone.

The frontman discusses his penchant for short album titles, citing the likes of the first four Led Zeppelin albums, as well as how his lyrics tell a personal story of hope. He continues on to explain how he utilizes genre and melody to make a point; his love for Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, and Radiohead’s strong sense of self; and having Sonic Youth and Nirvana be his first live experiences.

I didn’t know I was seeing something special.”
