Unless you are one of those sellers who operate exclusively online, you need to find a way to appropriately display the discount designer sunglasses you purchase from Olympic Eyewear. From aviator to butterfly and wayfarer sunglasses, how you display your wares makes a difference. We typically recommend sunglasses display cases or towers.

A good starting point is recognizing the fact that there are different types of displays. There are stand-up displays that look like towers. There are also displays you mount on the wall as well as the smaller displays that sit on the top of the counter or table. You need to pick whatever type fits your business best. With that said, let us get to those tips.

Position Displays As High As Possible

It is a good idea to position eyewear displays as high as possible. The idea is to keep the designer sunglasses you are trying to sell within the normal visual field of most of your customers. If the displays are sitting too low, you’ll be forcing customers to look down. Positioning displays higher up does just the opposite.

The obvious exception here is stand-up tower displays. By design, some of the sunglasses they hold are much lower. Tower displays allow you to put more inventory on the floor, but the chances are pretty good that the products at the bottom of the tower will not see much action. It is best to put the most popular items higher up where they will be noticed.

No Crowding, Please

When choosing locations for your displays, don’t make the number one mistake so many new retailers make: crowding the inventory. Too much merchandise packed into too small a space actually defeats your purpose as a retailer. You want customers to focus on your designer sunglasses, not everything else around them.

A countertop display should have a comfortable amount of open space on either side. Tower displays should be positioned far enough away from other products that people can walk all the way around. Wall-mounted displays should be spaced evenly with 8 to 12 inches between them.

Consider Portable Displays

We would encourage you to consider portable displays over more permanent ones. A portable display folds up into a nice little kit that you can take virtually anywhere. For the record, we sell several different portable displays suitable for the wholesale sunglasses we carry.

Going with portable models allows you to change things up in your storefront even if you never sell anywhere else. But if you do decide to go elsewhere – like flea markets, local festivals, etc. – portable displays make it a lot easier to take a sizeable amount of inventory with you.

Don’t Try to Make It Yourself

Our last tip for eyewear displays is to not try to make one yourself. Don’t try to make two or three yourself, either. Unless you are exceptionally skilled at the construction trades, you are not likely to match the look or quality of a professionally made display. Your customers will pick up on that. They could get a negative vibe that causes them to walk away and go find another seller.

Don’t assume you have to make your own displays because you cannot afford commercial models. Truth be told, the cost of building materials is so high these days that you probably can’t build a display cheaper. Stick with a commercial product and you will be better off.

Designer sunglasses were meant to be displayed. So before you place your next order for designer wayfarers or aviators, consider how you are going to display them. Your display choices really do matter.
