We love Las Vegas in December. Not only is the weather nice and cool (and even cold at times), which is perfect for outdoor adventures, but the holiday events make the city extra magical. We’ll cover some of the holiday events in this post, but be sure to check out our more detailed post here.
Early December is relatively quiet, but as you get closer to the holidays, it does get busier so hotel rates aren’t any lower.

What to Eat in Las Vegas in December
Whether you’re looking for fruits and vegetables at the farmer’s market or you want to eat farm to table, this is what you will find in season in Las Vegas (zone 9a).
- Fruits in season – pomegranates
- Vegetables in season – beets, broccoli, brussel sprouts, kale, leeks, lettuce, onions, parsnips, peas, radish, salad greens, spinach, swiss chard, turnips, winter squash.
Tips for Visiting Las Vegas in August
- Shows and events can sell out quickly! Buy tickets as soon as you know you want to go.
- Some shows have restrictions on what you can bring in. Read all the fine print before heading there.
- Save money if you plan on visiting multiple attractions with the All-Inclusive or Explorer Pass.
- Bring layers – layers are crucial for December. It can still be warm outside in the sun during the day but cold at night. As a local, I’m completely bundled up all month, but for those of you from colder climates might do okay with a t-shirt.
- Sunscreen is important since you’ll be exposed to the sun when you’re outside.
- The sun sets early in December (around 4:30-5 PM)
- Arrive early. It takes longer than you think to get from one spot to another on the strip. Give yourself time to find where you need to go.
