Losing our religion: Finding meaning beyond the pew

One of the fastest growing groups of Americans is made up of people who don’t identify with any organized faith. What’s been making people leave religious institutions, and how are they replacing them? We spend time with American Baptists in Illinois, a spiritual city-dweller in New Jersey, an atheist community creating a “church without God” through Sunday Assembly in Nashville, and Buddhist scholar Robert Thurman in New York. In the first episode of our series “Turning Points,” we explore how people find meaning and community in today’s increasingly fractured world.
